Our company was founded in 1990, opened in 1991.

Mike was the original owner, he approached Dan who was working at JJ's Restaurant (across the street from our location.) Next Day Signs was a franchise that Mike purchased.

Dan had a lot of experience with customer service and was a hard working guy with no computer experience. He went to Columbus for training on how to design, create, make signs and vinyl decals. Soon after the sign shop opened and signs, banner and decals were into production!

In 1993 Shannon, Dan's daughter, was in college, working as a NA and looking for a part time job in Toledo where she was going to school. Mike interviewed her and she started with the company that summer. Like most employees at the sign shop, she started as a general laborer working at the production table weeding vinyl. Eventually Dan taught Shannon how to use the Gerber Edge vinyl cutting machine (think of a vintage cricut machine!) A couple years later she took over the design and pre-production work while Dan focused on production and installation.

As the company grew many employees, often friends, joined our team.

Some of our previous employees include

John, a sports card collector who had a store in the same plaza as the sign shop.

Mike, our handy man, contractor and electrician who helped improve our shop as machines were upgraded. He also did the original interior build of the sign shop. His son's Michael, an engineering student at UT at the time and Eric, a long time employee who is our current IT consultant, both worked at the sign shop.
